Assistance That Can Lower Your Bills
Medicare costs come out of the same Social Security check that covers rent, groceries and utilities. New Jersey runs some of the stronger assistance programs in the country, yet plenty of people who qualify never fill out the form.
We look at your situation, explain which programs may fit and show how each one works together with the coverage you pick.

We do not offer every plan available in your area. Any information we provide is limited to those plans we do offer in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-MEDICARE to get information on all of your options.

These programs are run through the state with Medicaid funding and help people under certain income and resource limits with Medicare costs.
- QMB pays Part A and B premiums and most deductibles and coinsurance
- SLMB pays the Part B premium
- QI also pays the Part B premium, while funding for the year allows
Having the state cover your Part B premium alone is worth more than $2,400 over a year at the 2026 rate. Qualifying also makes you eligible for Extra Help with no separate application.
Extra Help for Prescriptions
This federal program lowers drug plan premiums, deductibles and copays. You apply through Social Security for free, and being approved can open chances to change plans during the year.
PAAD and Senior Gold
PAAD is New Jersey's Pharmaceutical Assistance to the Aged and Disabled. It helps residents 65 and older, and people with disabilities, pay a small set copay for covered medicines. Senior Gold serves people whose income is somewhat above the PAAD limit.
Both coordinate with Part D, so the plan you choose should work smoothly with them. We weigh that every time we compare drug plans.
Camden County Support
Camden County's Division of Aging and Disability Services helps older adults and caregivers find benefits, meals, transportation and in-home help. You will find the county link in the resource list below.
